AIR MARSHAL CONINGHAM

NEW APPOINTMENT (Rec. 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, Jan. 25. Air-Marshal Sir Arthur Coningham has been appointed Air Officer commanding the No. 2 Tactical Air Force of the R.A.F. based on Britain, and has taken up his new duties. He previously commanded the No. 1 Tactical Air Force in, the Mediterranean. He directed air operations in Sicily and Italy, and was largely responsible for the creation of the desert air force. He was born in Brisbane and educated in .New Zealand, and served with the New Zealand forces in the last war before joining the Royal Flying Corps in 1916. He has had a distinguished Air Force career.
