NEW BOLIVIAN REGIME
AMERICA REFUSES RECOGNITION ECONOMIC ACTION MAY BE TAKEN NEW YORK, January 24. The State Department announced that the United States will not recognise "the present revolutionary junta " governing Bolivia, and the Ambassador has been recalled. ' Venezuela has also refused to recogniso Bolivia, the Foreign Minister saving that the Bolivian coup d etat resulted from influences inimical to the United Nations' cause and endangers continental solidarity. The Washington correspondent or the ' New York Times ' says that in addition to the United States refusal to recognise the Bolivian junta economic action may bo taken, such as freezing her credits and banning shipments to Bolivia. The Brazilian Government has officially refused to recognise the Bolivian junta. , , Gautemala has refused to recognise the Bolivian Government as long as it is influenced by the enemies of the United States. Six Latin-American Governments have now refused recognition, and several others aro expected to follow suit. . . ' ~ Chile's Foreign Minister, Don Fernandez, declared that he would not take action,* at least temporarily. _ The Argentine Foreign Minister, Senor Alberto Gilbert, after long conferences with the British and American Ambassadors, announced that Argentina would issue a most important statement to-morrow.
