Morgan, 'who has been & prisoner of war in Italy for over two years, hias been transferred to Stalag VILA, Germany. Information to this effect Iras been received by his parents, Mr and Mrs Morgan, Adam street. Mrs I. Sutherland, of Balfour, has received information that her son, Gunner L. C. Sutherland, has been .transferred from Italy to Stalag XVHI.A, Germany. - Mr T. G. Wilkes, general secretary of the New Zealand National Party, returned north by the express to-day after a short visit to Dunedin. . According to advice received from Australia, Captain H. 11. Gordon, D.S.C., commodore of the Shaw Savill and Albion Line, was awarded a knighthood in the New Years Honours List. Sir Henry Gordon, who is well known in. New Zealand_ Shipping circles, has been in the service of the Shaw Savill and Albion Line for a.bout 36 years. He was appointed to his first command, the first Waiwera, in 1919, and subsequently commanded otheT well-known shios of the Shaw Savill line. Stortly before tho war ho was, appointed to the motor ship Wairangi. Ho and his chief engineer, Mr Alexander Chalmers, were awarded the D.S.C. for bravery ami daunt/less resolution when their ship was one of the important convoy which fought through to Malta in August, 1942. About 12 months ago Sir Henrywas \ appointed to the command of the Dominion Monarch. His is the first knighithbod awarded to an officer of the merchant navy associated with the New Zealand trade.
