GERMANY'S NEW PROBLEMS
MAY HAVE TO ABANDON FINLAND AND NORWAY EXPECTS ALSO TO LOSE RUMANIA AND BULGARIA (Rec 12.5 p.nO LONDON, Jan. 11. Nazi spokesmen in Berlin admit that the Germans may have to abandon Finland, the Baltic States, a part of Poland, and Norway. This information comes from reliable reports reaching Stockholm, which adds that the Germans also expect to lose Rumania and Bulgaria. Rumania is believed ready to surrender as soon as the Red army reaches the border. The Russians are already within 60 miles of Bessarabia, from which the Germans are hastening the evacuation of civilians. The ' Daily Express' diplomatic correspondent says if Rumania tries to get out of the war Bulgaria and Hungary will try to do the same. The German High Command will then have to decide whether to try to hold these countries against their will or let them surrender. For the German army to send big reinforcements to the Balkans to prevent surrender would dangerously thin-out its forces holding other parts of Europe.
