DIRECTION OF WORKERS
APPEAL CASES HEARD A sitting of the Otago and Southland Industrial Man Power Committee was held this morning. The committee consisted of Messrs M. W. Grantham (chairman) and Messrs H. H. Gillard and W. B. Richards. . The committee allowed,the appeal ot John Sneider Lamb, aged ,54, a foundry worker at the Hillside: Workshops, against a direction that he accept employment at the" Burnside Freezing Works. ■' v ■ An appeal, was lodged by Mrs Roberta Hilda Houlihan, aged 22, against a refusal to permit her to terminate her employment at the Bruce Woollen Mills. The committee reserved its decision An appeal by Mrs Audrey Bowie, of Milburn, against, the refusal of permission to terminate her employment at the Bruce Woollen Mills was allowed. .-** . , . The committee reserved its decision in an appeal by Frederick Hargreave, baker, against permission being granted to Pearl Riach, agedJ6|, to leave her emplovment in the bakehouse. .., ■ A joint appeal by Betty Eleanor Davie, aged 18 and her mother, Mrs Eleanor Mary Davie, was heard against a direction order that Miss Davie, at present employed by J. R. McKenzie Ltd., should take employment in the bag factory of they National Mortgage and Agency Co. Ltd. The Committee reserved its decision.
