U.S. DAYLIGHT RAID
HEAVY FLAK OVER GERMAN TARGETS LONDON, December 14. American Fortress bombers attacking North-western Germany in daylight yesterday met* some of the heaviest flak yet encountered, which was concentrated along an eight-mile stretch of the route. A pilot said that, although clouds partly obscured the targets, the bombs went down in a beautiful pattern, after which two smoke columns rose through the clouds. Escorting Thunderbolts and Lightnings made the deepest fighter penetration into' Germany. Fifteen enemy planes were destroyed, of which bombers accounted for 14. The Allied losses yesterday were five heavy bombers, two medium bomibers, and two fighters. The Berlin radio says that American bombers dropped bombs indiscriminately through thick cloud on several northwest coastal towns. Residential quarters were hit. . ' ,
