MAORIS IN BAYONET CLASH
FIERCE FIGHT WITH GERMAN GRENADIERS
(Rec. 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 12. The Maoris of the New Zealand Division with the Fighth Army met the German Grenadiers in a bayonet clash in moonlight, says the Uritish United Press eorresppondent. The Maoris had been ordered to take an important village north of the Moro River Supported by tanks, they scaled the slopes and entered the village streets, where they met German infantrv, also advancing with fixed bayonets " A fierce fight followed, and the Maoris took a number of prisoners, including men of the Nmtieth Panzer Grenadiers.
