ARCHERFIELD

On Saturday the end-of-the-yoar ceremony was held at Archerfield School. After the guests had been welcomed the school report was presented by the head prefect, Paula Uathbone. A fifth former, Lanette McLauchlan, then gave an address on Arthur Mee, the children's author, who died this year. The interhouse results were then' announced. Elgin House winning the house cup. Dressmaking and handwork, hobbies and projects were displayed, and it was quite evident that a number of the girls had used their leisure time to the best advantage " An interesting and varied programme was presented by the girls during the afternoon A recital' of musical and elocutionary items was held; a band of "negro minstrels" rendered various songs; ' The Bishop's Candlesticks.' a play from Hugo's ' Les Miserables,' was acted, and ' Kings in Judcea,' from the play cycle. ' The Man Boru to be King,' by 'Dorothy Sayers. was read. Several of the girls displayed their dressmaking in an effective mannequin parade. The junior school also held its closing ceremony, so that the afternoon was one of widespread activity and interest
