CALEDONIAN SOCIETY

ANNUAL MEETING CONCLUDED The annual meeting of the Caledonian SocietT of Otago was continued on Monday last, Mr B. R. McKernan presiding. It was decided that the sum of £2,000 from the sale of the society's property should be placed on deposit at the Post Office Savings Bank for the duration of the war, Messrs McKernan. Yd Ritchie, and P. Findlay-being. appointed trustees. The secretary was instructed to arrange for the transfer of. the property. The following were elected to the board of directors:—Messrs W. Esquilant, E. Kerr, E. H.. James, E. \V. Walden, W. H. Naylor, J. Youug, F. M. Anderson, A. Bain, A. Sime, and A Maedonald. Mr J. A. Hoperaft was appointed honorary auditor. A meeting of the hoard of directors was held at the conclusion of the annual meeting, when the following officebearers were elected:—President, Mr T. Ritchie; vice-presidents, Mr •). T. X. 3 rant (senior) and Mr A. Maedonald (junior): honorary treasurer. Mr •). A. Maedonald; honorary secretary, Mr J S. Douglas. The following standing committees jvere appointed :—Executive and Finance --the president, vice-presidents, treasurer, secretary, and Messrs A. McKernan, A. Wheeler, and J. Hope; Sport? md Games —Messrs McKernan, Naylor. Wheeler. Bain, James, F. M. Anderson. H. W. Lanham. and A. Ferguson; Social and Entertainment —Messrs A Maedonald, Kerr. Grant, Young, W. R. Loan, Sime. H. McCallum. and Esquilint; Educational, and Development—Messrs Arthur Paape, F 3. Duncan. Hope, Walden, T. M. Giljies. W. A. Mackay. W. H. McLeod. B tfcKenzie. and J. Gibbs. I'he officers were installed at a social fathering on Thursday night last, the hiest of honour being the president of ;he Christchureb Caledonian Society. Mr 0. S. Thomas, who gave an address jn tlio activities of his society. The prclidont and a number of other speakers lhanked Mr Thomas for his address.
