DISTINGUISHED VISITOR

PROFESSOR OF AMERICAN HISTORY Dr Allan Nevins, professor of American history at the Columbia University, United States, who arrived in New Zealand early this month, reached Dunedin by plane from the north this afternoon. Dr Nevins, who has been appointed special representative in New Zealand of the Office of War Information, Washington, plans to spend about two months in the Dominion. He will give a series of lectures on American war aims and the problems of world reconstruction. Dr Nevins is being accompanied on his trip to the South Island by Dr J. C. Beaglehole, of Victoria University College, Wellington. At 12.30 to-morrow Dr Nevins will address a meeting of members of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce at a luncheon in the Somerset Lounge of the Savoy. ■
