Owing to a bereavement in his owner's family "first- Royal will not be a starter at forbury Park to-morrow. Northern writers do not give Battledress a great deal of credit for his win over a miie and a-half at Levin, and are selecting Gladynev to beat him when they meet to-morrow. According to " Binocular in the ' Evening Post' The Monarch was being hard held when he passed the post at Levin, and would lose no friends for the New Zealand Cup, though he did not finish in a place. The following horses will be bracketed on the totalisators at Forbury Park to-mor-row:—Artillery Handicap: Hop Oil' and Indian Arrow. Army Handicap: Gold Rosette and Special Effort. King George Handicap: Erinack and Worthy Cross. Freyberg Handicap: Cold Steel and Punctual, First Royal and Lord Brent. Dominion Handicap: Hop Off and Indian Arrow. Churchill. Handicap: Erinack and Wonhy Cross. The following riders have been announced for the New Zealand Cup:—Rakanui, A. Midwood; Gladynev, S. Waddell; Representative, H. V Wiggins; The Monarch, W. J. Broughton; Kevin, C. T. Wilson; Te Kawiti, J. Garth; Cfassforni, N. Holland; Night Pal, C. H. Mackie; Foxhaven, N. Vanghan; Palfrey, A. Messervy; Don Quex, A. G. Waddell; Silver Sox, S. Green; and Patria (W. F. Ellis). So far no riders have been mentioned for Battledress or Scottish Dale.
