Versailles, likewise—and, further still The late lamented Kaiser Bill. I've even known aspersions cast On Bismarck, or the murky past Of Frederick the Great.
They've blamed Sir Walter Raleigh, Who introduced the spud. Which grew luxuriantly in The country round about Berlin (The mark of Brandenburg, to wit), Thus making all the sand in it To flourish like the green bay tree, And'furthermore (oh, dearie me!) One energetic history fan Ascribed the fault to Genghis Khan For all these years of blood.
