—Air Passengers.— ' Passengers from the north yesterday afternoon ;vere:—Mesdames A. O'Brien, and W. McKenzie (from Auckland), Mr Russell, Mesdames 'Lumsden and P. H. King (from Wellington), Messrs R. Fairbairn, P. Henderson, E. Aires, and! J! Steedmau, Mrs H. E. James (from Christchurch). Passengers by the north-bound air liner to-day were:—-Mr "j. Martin, Mr L. Corner, Miss E. Clifford. Mr R..E. Armstrong (for Christchurch), Mr and Mrs W. H. Zander and infant, Mr and Mrs 11. J. Watts, Miss M. L. Ludlow, Mrs J. E. Bridge (for Wellington). Mr S. Ritchie, Conciliation Commissioner, left this morning for Christchurch. :-. Mr G. Barton left this morning for Christchurch. ,' Mr and Mrs J. Stewart, 8 Chester street, North-east Valley, have received the first letter frorii. their son. Telegraphist M. Stewart, who was takeii x prisoner in-.Hongkong on December 26, 1941. He is safe and well. . ' Mr H. M. Christie has been- appointed 'Government member and Messrs L. D. Daniell and G. C. Warren wool growers' representatives on the New Zealand Wool Council. Mr W. M. Mackay, who has been appointed assistant district traffic manager of railways at Dunediii, has taken, up his new duties. Mr Mackay was formerly station master at Christchurch. At a' meeting of the Otago Primary Production Council yesterday congratulations were extended to Mr R. Aitken* of Clydevale, on the success of his son. Wing-commander R. F. Aitken, A.F.C., who is the youngest station commander in Fighter Command. Lieuteuant-colonel K. J. Walker, deputy adjutant-general of the Southern Military District, and the Wheat Controller (Mr IR. McPherson) left Dunedin this morning to address meetings in Gore and Invercargill. The*- will return to Christchurch to-morrow. Lieu-tenant-colonel Walker and Mr McPherson have been carrying out an extensive tour of the southern district, and have addressed meetings at Christchurch, Ashburton, Timaru. and Oamaru regarding the Army plans for the corainj* harvest season. Lieutenant-colonel Walker said yesterday that the primary production councils had promised full co-operation.
