BATTLE OF PRODUCTION

MESSAGE TO AMERICAN WORKERS RUGBY, Oct. 5. President Roosevelt, in a message to the sixty-third annual convention of the American Federation of Labour, stated that he expected success in the Government efforts " to stabilise _ and reduce the cost of living in essential commodities." He added that the battle of production was being won in every shipyard, machine shop, and factory. He declared: "You will bear with me in the expectation and challenge that American labour will do more and more until victory is won. Working people will be asked to continue to support the war effort by saving money, making sacrifices, and modifying their personal habits."
