THE ITALIAN FLEET
GERMANS EXPECTED TO ATTEMPT SEIZURE LONDON, August 2. Well-informed quarters in Cairo state that the Germans are assembling naval forces at Toulon, Spalato, and Corfu preparatory to taking over the Italian fleet, if necessary by force. The Germans intend to attempt to move the Italian warships to Germancontrolled bases and to send the submarines- into the Atlantic. The Germans, are reported to have taken 15 Italian submarines of 600 tons of the Abyssinia class based on Syra (Greece).
