ALLIES' RADIO WAR
GERMAN PEOPLE URGED TO REVOLT GREAT INVASION NEAR (Rec. 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 2. The Allies' radio war against the Axis was pushed a stage further to-day when a new campaign against the German people, urging them to revolt, was launched by Mr Elmer Davis, broadcasting on the Algiers radio. " From Britain one day will come a great invasion by British and American troops which will prove the European fortress no more invulnerable than the Sicilian fortress," said Mr Davis. "If there are still Germans who love freedom —not the freedom to tyrannise over others at home and abroad, but the freedom to think their own thoughts and speak out—let them come forward and show their feelings by action. Their word after they have lost the war will not be enough." The 8.8. C. broadcast a message from the Commander-in-Chief, Middle East, warning the people of CVete not to participate in a general rising until the Allied troops arrive. "Mussolini has fallen; Fascism is falling; and the Italians and Germans are about to fall out among themselves," said the message. " The Germans are seeking to disarm and imprison the Italians. If the Italians resist, do not impede them. They will not bother you. They have their hands full. The Germans are the real enemy, wishing to occupy the whole of Crete. You and your bands are part of the United Nations, and what you do is part of the United Nations' plan. Meanwhile, husband your resources do not reveal your strength, and await the signal. You will get full instructions."
