DUNEDIN AIRMAN DECORATED
D.S.O. TO SQUADRON-LEADER G. D. SISE
Squadron-leader G. D. Sise, of Dunedin, who in February last was awarded the D.F.C., has now won the D.S.O. This information has been received by his father, Mr R G Sise, of 47 Alva street. Squadron-leader Sise was born in Dunedin, and was educated at the High Street School and the Otago Boys' High School. Having learned to fly at the Taieri Aerodrome, he joined the R.N.Z.A.F. in October, 1039 On his' arrival in England he was posted to the Coastal Command of the R.A.F. Or. May 18 a cable message from London stated that Squadron-leader Sise had commanded torpedo-carrying Beaufighters, which had carried out two attacks on convoys off the Dutch coast on the previous day. In the first attack five out of eight supply vessels and three of the six escort, ships were damaged, and in the second attack two large merchantmen were hit, one being left burning. A smaller escort ship wa3 damaged, and three escort ships were set on fire.
