HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
The sixty-second annua! meeting of the Uuiiedin Horticultural Society was held last evening. The president (Mr H. S. Hungerford) was in the chair. The report stated that war conditions had had au adverse effect, as members experienced a difficulty in finding the time they would like for conducting shows. Nevertheless, all four shows were held, and all were well up to the standard of previous shows. The spring show was excellent, and, although not large, the summer show was good. The autumn show was unfortunate in weather conditions prior to the show, and this curtailed entries in the sweet pea and dahlia classes. The winter show was held in conjunction with the Otago A. and P. Society's Winter Shew, and was one of the best chrysanthemum shows held for many years, The financial statement showed a satisfactory position.
