CRASHED IN NEWFOUNDLAND

FERRY COMMAND BOMBER

: MONTREAL February 12. . The Ferry Command has announced that an R.A.F. Liberator .bomber crashed in Newfoundland. Thirteen passengers and five of the crew were killed instantly. One survivor lated died from injuries, bringing the total death to 19. The two other. were service personnel who were uninjured. The aircraft, after completing a flight from England, crashed at night in bad weather. The men killed were described as " top-notch " airmen. A message from Washington states that Captain F. A. Dugan, of the R.A.F. Ferry Command, who was the holder of the record for the round trip crossing from Canada to England, was killed while on active duty in Newfoundland yesterday.
