FREE MEDICAL SERVICE
Hi. DELEGATION IN AUSTRALIA OANBERP.A, February 8. Plans for a free Australian medical service will be discussed this week by the Commonwealth Government representatives and the New Zealand social security officers who are here on a special mission. The New Zealand delegation comprises the chairman of the Social Security Commission, Mr H. Digby-Smith, aud' the secretary of the Health Department, Mr A. O. voa Kisenberg. They are to consult with the Federal Social Security Parliamentary Committee and the Prime Minister, Mr J. Curtin. Points in the plan to be discussed are:— 1. Free service to the community by lectors 2. Free hospital accommodation. 3. Free medicine. 4. Free deutal attention. Its advocates hope the plan may be put into practice before the life of the present Parliament expires. The New Zealand delegation will be asked to advise on the financial aspects of the New Zealand scheme and the experience of the N*ew Zealand Government in obtaining co-operafcion from the medical profession, as well as on the Dominion';* experience in providing social security benefits for iiio unemployed, for widows and their dependents, and for orphans.
