GOOD TEMPLARY
The Rescue Lodge, No. 105, celebrated its thirty-eighth anniversary on Tuesday evening in the Methodist Sunday School, Wesley street, Sister Mrs N. McDonald. Chief Templar, presiding. There was a good attandence of members, friends, and past members, also a good representation from All Nations’ Lodge, Port Chalmersi The anniversary address was delivered by Rev. Bro. Basil Metson. Rev. W. D. Campbell, Grand Counsellor and Chief Templar of All Nations’ Lodge, extended greetings of Grand Lodge and his own lodge. The Grand Chief Templar, Bro. W. A. lies, referred to the early history of the lodge and the necessity for greater aggressive action against the liquor traffic. An enjoyable programme was provided by the following;—Solos, Master Ray Gibson. Sisters J. Leishman and A. Deedman, Mr and Mrs E. J. lies; recitations, Mrs Oliver, Sister F. Anthony; duet, Bro. J. Restieaux, and Sister A. Steedman; Mrs Cook was the accompanist. The lodge was instituted in the old Wesleyan Church, at the corner of Wesloy street and Cargill road, on July 26, 1904, the charter being granted by the late Rev. E, H. Taylor, at that time’ Grand Chief Templar. The present Grand Chief Templar was the first Chief Templar of Rescue Lodge.
