RETURNED SERVICES' CHOIR

The Dunedin Returned Services’ Choir will appear in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall on Monday, August 24, and the public is assured of a good night’s entertainment. This musical body was formed in October, 1919, just after the Great War, and during the past 22 years has given no fewer than 64 concerts as well as taking part in worthy objects pertaining to the city’s welfare. During the past 12 months it has visited the various camps in and around Dunedin, spreading the “cheer germ” to the troops. The saying, “ Old soldiers never die,” is, in fact, a reality, for although 22 years have passed over their heads the members of the choir are still giving fine performances under their conductor, Mr L. B. Borrow. They have one ambition, that being to keep this notable musical body intact, so as when the time conies they may hand it on to their younger comrades of the present war in a sound and healthy state. The public support in this matter’will be appreciated. The programme for the evening is as follows:—Selected numbers by the choir, support ed by such leading performers as Mrs Parata and her Maori party in poi dance and song; Mrs Hall Masters and Mrs John McFarlane in vocal duels and solos; Mrs John Hamer in a humorous rccitnfion, and Miss Nancy Finder in violin solos. Miss Baker is the choir pianist.
