APPEAL BOARD SITTING Further appeals were dealt with by the No. 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board yesterday afternoon. The board comprised Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., and Messrs J. Price and H. Hodgson. The Mosgiel Woollen Factory Co. Ltd. appealed fer a number of employees. They were C. W. Brvce (carpenter), G. Creighton, and E. C. Dee, mill hands, D. Findlay, fireman, C. Harris, scourer, and E. Lyall. worsted department. All appeals were adjourned sine die, appellants to join the Home Guard with the exception of Lyall, who is to continue in the Auxiliary Firo Service. Other appeals adjourned sine die were: —H. L. Steedmau, clothing factory manager, tc serve in the E.P.S.; H. S. Bingham and Co. Ltd., for G. H. Bingham, mason, to serve in the Home Guard; Dalgety and Co. Ltd., for G. B. Quennell, shipping clerk, to serve in the Home Guard; Clutha River Gold Dredging Co. Ltd,, for T. A. Kay, engineer, to serve in the Home Guard, An appeal by the company for J. A. Breen, electrician, was dismissed, reservist not to he called up before October 31. E. and L. Duff Ltd., for H. J. Haig, tractor driver, to serve in the Home Guard, and for R. Burrell, truck driver, appeal dismissed, reservist not to he called up before October 31. Otago Tyre Service tor G. R. Grindley, vulcaniser, to serve in the Home Guard. The appeal of W. H. Ganderton and Son for I. G. R;. Anderson, a plumber, was dismissed subject to reservist uot being called up before September 30. The appeals of T. Pheloung for A. C. Ramsay, quarryman, and E. D. Bishop, lorry driver, were similarly dealt with. The appeal of Wholesalers Ltd. for C. G. Mountney, hotel manager, was dismissed, reservist not to be calld up before November 30. An appeal by Dalgety and Co. Ltd. for J. W. Bruce, slock agent, was dismissed, reservist to serve within New Zealand during JulyNovoinber, and in the Heme Guard at Ranfurly for the remainder of the year. An appeal by .R. L. Cuthbert, milk vendor, was adjourned until October 31, the matter then to be further considered. An appeal by D. Silverstone, solicitor, was dismissed subject to appellant not being called up before December 31. TO-DAY’S SITTING. The board continued its sitting this morning, when further appeals were heard. The following appeals were adjourned sine die, reservist to serve in the Home Guard;—National Bank of New Zealand Ltd., for P. R. Braithwaite, W. J. M. Campbell, A. G. MacFarlane, I. M. Styche (Cromwell), and D. A. McPhail (Alexandra), clerks; Commercial Bank of Australia Ltd., for J. R. W. Ovens, and C. E. Longman, bank tellers; United Insurance Co. Ltd., for L. iW. Edgington, chief clerk (to continue in E.P.S.) ; T. Scurr Ltd. for C. E. Frost, coach builder; W, Casey and Son for J. B. Duncan, truck driver; j. R. Brown Ltd. for F. H. Glover, baker’s labourer (io continue in E.P.S.): Emslie and Flockton tor W. D. Flockton, partner and panel beater; W. C. Reilly for W. H. Holland, motor mechanic; N.Z. Express Co. Ltd. for A. R. Laing. motor mechanic; Star Stores Ltd. for J. A. Landrebe, grocery manager; F. G. Brinsdon, dairyman. The following appeals were dismissed, conditionally upon reservists not being called np before the dales given;—W. Casey and Son, for W. D. J. Timblick, carrier, September 30; Emslie and Flockton, for J. S. Sutherland, motor body builder, October 31; Stone, Son, and Co. Ltd., for A. M. Henderson, printer, October 31; W. C. Reilly for D. F. Inglis, secretary, September 30; F. G. Brinsdon for D. S. MacDonald, farmer, September 30. An appeal by J. R*. Brown Ltd. for the release from camp of J. C. Thompson, a table band, was recommended by the board to take effect immediately, while the same company’s appeal for S. B. Gerrie, baker, was dismissed, (he reservist not io be called up until Thompson is released. In a resowed decision relating to an appeal bv the Silverstone Joinery Factory Ltd. for A. J. Young, a glazier, the appeal was dismissed, reservist not to be called up before October 31.
