GREEN ISLAND AFFAIRS

The Green Island Borough Council hold ifs monthly meeting last night, the mayor, Mr G. A. Orange, presiding over Messrs B. Rennie. T. McAhan, J. Gallery, D. Copeland, L. Burgess, T. Mason, T. Robson, W. Wynn, and J. Boomer. The report of ihc Water, Lighting, and Drainage Committee stated that a meeting is to be held on Monday, August 17, to consider the whole question of properties not yet connected to the sewer. Water consumption of the borough for ihe quarter ended June 30 last was stated to be one of the highest on record at 29,964,O<XI gallons. Of this quantity 22,107,000 gallons were used for industrial purposes, and 7,857,000 gallons had domestic use, which worked out at 34.5 gallons per head per day. The cost to the borough was £1.342 7s 2d.
