FRUIT AND VEGETABLES. Supplies of Australian oranges are still eagerly awaited. A further small parcel of New Zealandgrown lemons reached the market at the week-end. These had to be / sold in quar-ter-case lots, and even then many customers had to go without supplies. . Bananas are still unprocurable, and there is no word regarding future sup-, plies. All varieties of apples, with the exception of Sturmers, have been in short supply during the week, and the market has firmed. Stunners are in fairly heavy supply, with small sizes slow of sale. The market could do with heavier supplies of pears. There have been no supplies during tho week. The season is about finished for tomatoes, and only a few local hothouse grown are now appearing on the market. Vegetables have been in fairly good supply during the week, and have met with a steady demand. Prices show little, if any, change. Wholesale price sare as follows: Apples: Delicious, 4s 6d to 8s per case; Jonathans, 4s 6d to 8s 6d; Sturmers, 3s f.d to 6s; Cloopatras, 4s to 5s 6d; cookers, 3s 6d to 5s 6d. Pears: Dessert to 8s 6d per half-case. Oranges: To arrive. Bananas: Off the market. Lemons: Off the market. Tomatoes: Local hothouse, 2s to 2s 6d. Potatoes, Hs to 13s per cwt. Lettuce; Choice to 2s 6d per dozen; others, 2s per case. Carrots, Is to Is 6d per dozen bunches; 5s to 6s per sugar bag. Leeks io 5d per bundle. Celery to Is 4d per bundle. 4» • Marrows to 14s per cwt. Cabbages, Is 6d to 2s 6d per sack. Cauliflowers: Choice, 4s to 6s 6d per Beetroot, Is 3d per dozen bunches. Parsnips to Is 9d per dozen hunches: 5s 6d per bag. Brussels spvouls, to 6d per lb. Pumpkins to 2d per lb Kumeras. 5d per II). Swedes, Is 6d to 2s per sugar bag.
