SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP NEARING THE END . The Dunedin Bowling Centre’s annual champion of champions singles competition, which was continued on Saturday afternoon, entered its final stages to-day. -At the conclusion of play on Saturday all ,but five competitors had been eliminated, these being D. Vaughan, the North-east Valley champion, and C. E. Tyrrell, the Roslyu veteran, each of whom still had his “ two lives ” when play ended, A. S. MacDougall (Caverhsam), W. W. Callender (Otago), and J. J. Hincheliff (St. Kilda), each onelifers. On this morning's play MacDpugall and Callender were eliminated, and in a game which was close to the nineteenth head Vaughan lost one of, his lives to Tyrrell, the latter establishing a very good win after burning a bead in which Vaughan was lying 3. Saturday’s results were:— ST. KILDA GfIEEN. Fourth Round.—Callender 23, Easton 11; MacDougall 19, Ferguson 8; Vaughan a bye. Fifth Round. —Vaughan 20, Callender 17; MacDougall a bye. NORTH-EAST VALLEY GREEN. Fourth Round.—Tyrrell 18, Bolt 10; Hinchelilt 22, Barclay 7; Stoddart 22, Smith 17. Fifth Round. —Tyrrell 19, Stoddart 18; Hincholiff 17, Bolt 14. This morning's games were held on the Caledonian green, the results being:— Sixth Round. —Vaughan 20, MacDougall 10; Hincholiff 19, Callender 11. Seventh Round. —Tyrrell 23, Vaughan 15. It is expected that a decision will bo reached about 5 p.m.
