This is an important railway town 60 miles west of Rshev. The recapture of several other inhabited, but .unnamed, places is also announced. After stubborn fighting a strategic point hold by the Germans on tic Leningrad front was recaptured, the Germans suffering heavy losses. The Germans admit that the Russians have launched a heavy tank attack south of Kharkov, and that further (Russian landings have been made in the Crimea. Yesterday the Red Air Force brought down 39 German planes for the loss of 11. The air force also destroyed five troop trains. In the Barents Sea a German transport of 5,000 tons has been sunk.
