STRAND'S. HISTORICAL DRAMA
‘LADY FROM LOUISIANA' The famous New Orleans lottery is the. subject of the main feature on the new programme at the Strand, ‘ Lady from Louisiana,' starring John Wayne, Qua Munson, and a large east of talented players. The famous lottery made the headlines back in the 'Bo’s, and Republic has certainly “ stolen a march ” on the other companies in utilising this fascinating background. Miss Munson portrays the beautiful. Julio Mirbeau, whose father. General Mirbeau, played by Henry Stephenson, is owner and operator of the lottery. John Wayne, in the role of the young Bostonian lawyer, has boon brought to New Orleans by a reformer, Mrs Brunot, to smash the lottery. Wayne and Miss Munson fall in love, and ultimately find happiness when the way is cleared, and the manner in which (his is achieved provides most absorbing entertainment. ‘ Moonlight ,in Hawaii,’ tlio supporting film, is a musical romance, the intriguing story of which has a romantic setting. The featured players include Jane Frazee, Miscba Auer, Leon Errol, Johnny Downs, and the Merry Macs.
