‘MESSIAH'

With the approach of the Christmas season, music lovers will be keenly looking forward to hearing the lovely arias and choruses from the ‘ Messiah ’ once more. Some fine effects in the quieter choruses, especially in the Passion section, have been attained at rehearsals by the special choir prepared by Professor V. E. Galway to mark the occasion, while the climaxes in the rousing ‘ Hallelujah Chorus ’ and ‘ Worthy is the Lamb ’ have been most effective. The soloists engaged are all experienced musicians and should prove an attraction. The soprano is Ivy Hannan, while Mary Pratt will sing the contralto solos. Les Dailey as tenor and Russell Laurcnson require no introduction to Dunedin audiences.
