PUBLIC SERVICE
EFFICIENCY TESTS SUSPENDED (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 28. The Government has been recommended by the Public Service Commissioner, Mr .1. H. Boyes, to suspend the public service efficiency tests for the duration of the war. “ One of the first things upon which I had to make a decision on beingji appointed commissioner was this bogy of the efficiency tests,” said Mr Boyes at a reunion of Taranaki public servants to-night. “ I felt that in wartime it was not a fair thing, and this view was confirmed by the thought of the 3,000 officers of the service who are undergoing a far greater test of efficiency overseas. Thus I concluded that it would be in the best interests of tlie individual as well as of the service if the tests were abandoned for the duration.”
