LICENSES RENEWED The No. 4 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr V. Raines) sat this morning in the Council Chambers at the Town Hall. , . The application of the St. John Ambulance Association for renewal was granted, and the number of vehicular authorities increased from five to six. Renewals wore granted tho Dunedin Corporation Transport in the eases of the Fairfield, Wingatui, Whare I'lat routes and a contract bus. Au amendment in the first-named altered the morning time-table by five minutes. Renewals were granted the Minister of Railways for tho Dunedin-Invercar-gill route, where there was also a suspension. Renewal was granted in the case of tho Dunedin-Timaru route, and an amendment permitting buses to ply through Seacliff and Karitane. which were formerly served by the Palmerston bus, was reserved. Tho renewal of tho seasonal license (April 1-13) for a Milford Sound bus was granted. A contract license, amended to allow its use to any agency working under the approved group travel scheme, was adjourned, following receipt of a telegram from tho Transport Department, Wellington. Renewal was granted for a license for tho Aramoana bus. Decision was reserved in the matter of an amendment proposing cheaper faros for the Dunedin-Timaru bus. Renewal was granted Hobbs (Brighton) Motors Ltd. An amendment allowing them to pick up and set down passengers in Green Island at times when other services were not running was widely discussed, tho Railways Depart and the Corporation Transport being interested. The amendment was granted, subject to the appellant company charging a fare of one shilling from Green Island, so that his passengers from that point would be confined to those who had missed the train. A. M. Finnie had licenses renewed for Mosgiel-Janefield, Berwick-Dunedin. and contract. He asked an amendment to run to Wingatui on Sundays only when no trains were running.. Tho Railways Department opposed the amendment, but it was granted. Decision was reserved on a further point that he should be allowed to take passengers from there at a time when men were awaiting transport and tho camp officials asked for his services.

Renewals were granted R. J. Oilmour (Waikouaiti), W. J. Carjey (Mos-

gieV). Union Airways Ltd. (Wellington), A. M. Finnic (Mosgiol). GOODS LICENSES. An amendment was granted W. Casey and Sou Ltd. for their goods license, extending the area so that an existing contract could bo adhered to. Renewal of a goods license was granted T. F. Sheehan. The transfer of the goods license of C W Hadfield, who has gone into camp, to E. G. Prch'ble, an existing operator, was ratified. Revocation of the goods service license of Lntta Bros. (Romahapa) was granted. NEW LICENSES. The Railways Department objected to the application of Messrs A. and T. Burt Ltd. for a goods license, with exemption from the. 30-mile railway restriction clause. The license was granted, subject to appeal by the objecting body. J. Kyle applied for a now license to replace'one which expired in May last. —Granted.
