Mr and Mrs 18. Woolsey, Abbotsford, have received advice from their son. Private B. Woolsey, who was reported missing after the operations in Crete, stating that he is a prisoner in' Germany, and is being well treated and well fed.
At the annual meeting of the Otago Cricket Association last night, the president (Mr F. N. Binney) referred to the deaths which had occurred during the year of Mr J. S. Hiddleston, Mr L. C. Eastman, and Mr L. Hill, all of whom had at one time or another been closely connected with cricket in Otago; also of Mr Malcolm Holmes, late president of, the North Otago Cricket Association. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the deceased was carried, delegates standing. Prior to his departure on transfer to Auckland, Inspector D. J. O’Neill, who has heen inspector at Dunedin for the past 14 months, was met hy a representative gathering of members of the force in Dunedin yesterday afternoon and was presented with a leather suitcase. The presentation was mad© hy Superintendent O’Hara, who wished him success in his new appoint-, ment. After several other members- of the force had spoken, Inspector O’Neill’ briefly acknowledged the gift. Inspector O’Neill left for the north to-day. Inspector W. E. Packer, of Greymouth,who was senior sergeant at Dunedin a few years ago, will succeed Inspector O’Neill. Captain Gordon Anderson, M.C., Dominion Signals Officer of the Homo Guard, who has been touring the country in regard to the establishment of the signals organisation of the Home Guard on a uniform basis throughout’ the Dominion, will arrive from the south to-morrow morning. H© will have luncheon with the group' director (Lieutenant-colonel F. B. Adams) at the University dub to-morrow, and in the evening "yvill attend a conference of area officers and battalion commai?dera. He will leave for the north on Friday morning.
