Mr A. S. Cookson left by the express this morning to attend a meeting of the Conciliation. Council in Wellington.
The Hon. M. Connolly, M.L.C., left hy the express this morning for Wellington. Mr T. R. Overton, engineer for the North Auckland Power Board, returned north this morning after visiting relatives at Henley. Mr H. L. Gibson left for Christhcurch this morning to attend a meeting of the South Islands Travel Association.
Advice has-been received-that Lieutenant H. M. Nees, at present serving with the Royal Navy, has been promoted to a command. Dr R. J. T. Bell returned from Wellington yesterday after attending_ a meeting of the New Zealand University Senate.
Dr G. H. B. W'hitta, house surgeon at the Wmngauui Hospital, has resigned to take up private practice in Hunterville.
The Hon. J. A. Hanan, M.L.C., Chancellor of the New Zealand University, returned yesterday from Wrellington, where he attended a meeting of the University Senate.
Paymaster Lieutenant-commander L. J. Black, R.N.Y.R., left for Auckland this morning. Mr W. R. Carey was re-elected president of the South Island Motor Union at tho annual meeting in Christchurch on Friday". The only change in the executive committee was the election of Mr R. W’ilson (South Canterbury) in place of Mr A. Donaldson. Mr F. L. C. Scrivener, lecturer in agriculture at the Dunedin Training College, will visit Southland for a week in the middle of November for discussions with the Southland Education Board’s agricultural instructors (Messrs T. Mathews and K. I. Robertson).
Mr W. J. Gardner, who lias been managing secretary of the Wanganui Harbour Board for the last 15 years, has arrived in Wellington to take up the position of secretary to the New Zealand Harbour Boards Association and secretary to the New Zealand Harbour Boards Employers’ Union. Dr W. Arundel Orchard, 0.8. E., F.R.C.M., examiner for Trinity College of Music, London, who has been ill for the past few weeks, has resumed work and will continue examining till he leaves next .month for Australia, where he will examine in South Australia and Tasmania. _ Air Anderson Tyrer will shortly arrive in New Zealand, and, together with Dr Lyon, will complete the examinations in the North Island.
