GERMANY’S EASTERN BATTLEFRONT.—The 1,800 miles of territory stretching from the Black Sea to the Arctic Ocean, along which German panzer divisions are at grips with the Red Army. Germany’s three main drives are—through the Baltic States toward Leningrad, past Minsk toward Moscow, and south-east to Kiev and the Ukraine. Added thrusts are being made by German-Finnish forces into Karelia, and by German-Rumanian forces through Bessarabia. Moscow claims that all drives have been checked with heavy losses.
