MINOR FOOT TROUBLES NO BAR DEFENCE MINISTER CLARIFIES POSITION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 19. The Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones), in a statement to-day, announced that the R.N.Z.A.F. is prepared to accept for enlistment as pilots, observers, or gunners men who have minor afflictions of the feet—flat feet or similar complaints. ■This refers only to those men who are within air crew age and have the requisite. educational qualifications. Many ; of those who offered , their services to; the Army and. have been rejected forvarious, types of foot trouble consider; that they are unsuitable for any branch of the services, but if these men are otherwise physically fit they will be considered for selection for air crew training. Men under 31 are eligible as, pilots, while observers and air gunners must be under 33.
