CHINA’S CRISIS OVER
JAPAN GIVING HER BEST DR KCO’S CONFIDENT DECLARATION [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, May 10. “ As far as China is concerned, the crisis is over and the danger of being crushed by Japan has passed away. Japan is attempting to withdraw from the war quickly and with the least possible loss of prestige,” said Dr T. Z. Koo, travelling secretary of the World Student Christian Federation, who arrived by the Monterey to tour the Dominion. Dr Koo said the Chinese people were grateful for the credit of 50.000.OOOdo! granted them by the United States Government. The money would be used for heavy munitions which were needed urgently. “• The refusal of the Soviet to allow munitions to be transported across Uussia for the use of belligerents will not affect the delivery of war materials from America,” Dr Koo said, adding that most of it was received over the Burma road. Russia was supplying a limited amount of war materials to Marshal Chiang Kai-shek, most of it being aeroplanes.
