BUMPING and LUMPING The " Citizens" persist in their endeavour to bamboozle electors regarding RATES and RENTS Not content with “bumping” the rates, the Citizens’ candidates are now “ lumping ” them. It isn’t fair—the electors have a right to know how much they will have to pay if a Council is returned. Here are the facts:— The present Council have increased the City rates for next year by lumping the Hospital and Drainage Board rater The Council has no control over these bodies, and well it •. knows it. Even on the issue as stated, by “ Citizens ” candidates there will be, under their control of prudent financing, a total rate of 4/9. Under Labour the total rate will be 4/7 —a reduction of 2d. The “ Labour ” claim regarding rates has not changed—they promised in the beginning a reduction of 2d. That promise still stands. Don't be Bamboozledhave your say to-morrow—-it will be 3 years before you get another say. VOTE LABOUR for Mayor, for Gity Council, for Hospital Board, for Harbour Board—LABOUR Inserted by the New Zealand Labour Party.
