By terrible things in righteousness wilt Thou answer ns, O God of our salvation; Who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that arc afar off upon the sea. —(Psalm 65; 2 and 5.) Our Father, we come before Thee with great sorrow of heart as we remember the cruel desolations of war. Daily we hear the story of homes made desolate, and lovihg hearts robbed of their joy and pride. Have mercy upon all the victims of war. Comfort the suffering, console the sorrowful, and uphold all who are working and fighting for righteous• ness’ sake. We pray that amidst all the contradiction of faith and love and hope at this time we may hold fast our confidence in Thee Who const make even the wrath of men to praise Thcc. But in Thy mercy hasten the day of deliverance; through Jesus Christ our Lord. — Amen.
