The back markers broke a barrier and some delay was caused. When the field started the favourite broke after going away well, and lost fully 60yds before settling down. Westcliff led Highrate, Orphan Bingen, Traveltone, Suspense, and Lee Berry over the first circuit, and entering the last Westcliff was a good length in front. of Highrate, Traveltone. Orphan Bingen, and Suspense, with a big gap to Royal Worthy. Going along- the back the last time, the favourite moved up fast and ran into second place to Westcliff. This pair drew right away in the run home, Royal Worthy just beating Westcliff by a head. Suspense was eight lengths third; then Traveltone and Lee Berry. Cathay and Lustrous were the smartest of the limit horses to begin, but when, two furlongs had been covered Coleen Travis ran to the front, and was followed into the final lap by Flying Pcggl 7 ) Cathay, Serapeum, and Lustrous. At the far turn Coleen Travis was two lengths clear of Serapeum and Cathay, and was not seriously challenged in the run to the post, winning by three lengths from Cathay, who beatSerapeum by two lengths.
