D.F.C. AWARD [l’ek United I’kess Association.] WELLINGTON, May 9. Advice lias been received by Air Headquarters in Wellington that the Distinguished Flying Cross lias been awarded to Pilot-officer Irving Stanley Smith. His next-of-kin is his mother, Mrs H. A. Smith, 49 Trafalgar street, Onehunga. Pilot-officer Smith was born at Invercargill in 1917, and was educated at the Whangarei Junior High School and Seddon Memorial Technical College, Auckland. He was selected for a short-service commission in the 11 oval Air Force in 19,‘if), leaving New Zealand in July of that year.
