LITTLE PUBLIC INTEREST
N.S.W. STATE ELECTIONS BOTH SIDES CONFIDENT SYDNEY, May 9. , ■ (Received May 9, at 1 p.m.) Seldom has a State election evoked such little public interest as that which is to be held to-morrow. The party organisers of both sides have found it most difficult to judge the general feolino- of the electors. Many candidates hacl to explain their policies to mere handfuls of supporters. Both sides express confidence in victory. The Labour- Party goes to the poll with 32 seats, and must wm 14 more to <nve it a majority of two, which would be reduced to one after the election of the Speaker. . The present state of the parties is: Government 55, Labour 34, Independent 1. One Labour seat lias been abolished by redistribution, and another is so changed that Labour has not nominated a candidate.
