Mr H. S. S. Kyle, M.P., has been appointed a member of the Stock Remedies Registration Board on the recommendation of the New Zealand Veterinary Association. The following appointments to the Local Government Loans Board have been announced in the ‘ Gazette ’: — Messrs H. M. Christie, Waipnkurau; C. L. Grange, Auckland; J. W. Heenan, Wellington: E. Hitchcock, Christchurch; G. A. Lewin, Dunedin. Tho appointments arc for one year, trom April 1, 1911. Mr P. J. O’Brien, of the staff of the Canterbury Museum, Christchurch, returned to New Zealand by the Mariposa after seven months’ study in the United States under a Carnegie grant. Mr O’Brien spent five months in San Francisco, and the remainder of the time in visiting the principal museums of tho United States, his chief interests being taxidermy and the general display and arrangement of exhibits. Latest registrations at the City Hotel include Captain Thompson (London), Mr W. H. Plant, Mr R. P. Stemmier (New York City), Mrs R. de Valli, Mr A. P. Cookson, Mr R. M‘Keo, Mr A. J. Williams (Christchurch). Staying at the Excelsior Hotel are Mr and Mrs Hamilton Sinclair (Wellington), Mr P. Brentou (Geraldine), Mr and Mrs J. Partridge, Mr M. Partridge (Lowborn), Mr K. W. Reid (Outram), Mr and Mrs R. Thomson, Miss G. Thomson, Mrs Chisholm gill)Guests at Wain’s Hotel include Mr C. E. Archer (Nottingham, England), Mr W. K. C. O’Byrne (Auckland), Mill. T.
