ANZACS IN ACTION
, New Zealand troops are now in action on the Greek front. They are holding the Olympus Pass, against which, together with the rest of the Allied defence line, the Germans are now throwing the full weight of their attack. In spite of almost non-stop attacks on the heights of Mount Olympus by wave after wave of German infantry, the British line forming the right flank of the Allied armies defending Northern Greece holds firm, inflicting enormous casualties on the German hordes, which are being flung into the fray regardless of cost. Hitherto the e'nemy has failed even to dent the main British front, but German advances on the left flank southward of the Monastir Gap may entail 'a rectification of the line. MASSED SLAUGHTER OF ENEMY In throwing their entire weight into the attack the Germans have suffered tremendous casualties. One estimate places their losses at 50,000 dead so far. The cost is also indicated by a statement by a United Press correspondent, who describes the losses as massed slaughter. Small groups of Yugoslav troops are in the forefront of the fight agaitfst the Germans.
