Gratification at the results achieved were expressed by the president ol the association (Mr W. K. Cameron) when the figure was announced. The association, he said,, owed everything to the energy and enthusiasm of the band of collectors on whom the real work bad fallen. From early morning until evening' they remained at their task, and their only reward was tho knowledge of the worthy nature of the cause for which they were working. The association had a Poppy Day organisation of which it had every reason to bo proud, and the expeditious manner in which the returns were counted was duo to the co-operation received from the staffs of the National Bank of New Zealand and the Dunedin Savings Bank.
