THERE IS SOMETHING IN A NAME
Chalking up a, now “ high ” of some sort in Hollywood name mixups, Anne Nagel for the second time has received Anna Neagle’s salary by mistake. Crazy as it sounds, the young Universal actress, currently in ‘ Who’s Crazy Now?’ traced the error to an identity-confused now secretary in the business office icpresenting Miss Neagle. Th i .secretary picked up Anna’s salary, subtracted the office commission, and sent the balance to Anne. Several days ago Miss Nagel rushed around for about five .straight hours serving tea at Mary Bickford’s house in a crowd of 1,300 women for the benefit of the Jewish old-age welfare, only to receive a “ thank yon ” note the next day—addressed to Anna Ncagle. A week ago Anne made a personal appearance in San Francisco, and the theatre manager feted her at a night club party. The featured singer rendered ‘ Alice Blue Gown ’ in her honour. Anne didn’t have the heart to toll the little lady that it was Miss Ncagle. not she, who starred in ‘ Irene.’ Miss Nagel has never met -Miss Neagle. but she feels that as long as she’s helping to live her life for her it would be nice to get together some time.
