W.E.A’S 1941 PROGRAMME

The majority of the W.E.A. classes commence their activities next week. The biology class will again be conducted by Mrs B.° J. Harpies, who will deal with, among other things, the life and habits of spiders and nisects and with the mechanism of inheritance. Miss Mary Martin will continue her work with the music class. Dr G. C. Billing will be in charge of the world affairs class and will speak on ‘ World Affairs and Geography.’ Mr H. H. Ferguson and Mr G. H. Boyes have given the title of ‘ Experimenting On Ourselves ’ to the course they have prepared for the psychology class. Mrs Margaret Dimningham and Mr J. F. M’Dougall are to be the tutors of the new literature class. The lectures are planned to show the relation of the author to his social environment. Mrs Dimningham will speak on the modern authors of America,. England, Germany, France, Australia, and New Zealand. Mr M’Dougall is to concentrate on short story writers, including those of New Zealand. The railway class will again be conducted by Mr H. H. Ferguson, who has prepared a course on ‘ Man in the Making.’ This year this class will bo open to both men and women. Mrs W. N. Benson and Mrs F. G. Soper will conduct the women’s Friday afternoon classes, which meet in the Y.W.C.A. The programme will include many biographical papers on eminent people. The W.E.A. has been fortunate in securing the services of Mr G. A. Worthington for city work on drama. All interested in drama will do well to attend the preliminary meeting, to be held in the Theosophical Hall, Dowling street, on Wednesday next. Mrs Peter Milne and Mr G. H. Boyes will continue with their classes at Anderson’s Bay.
