Mr lan Webster, of Wellington, returned north this morning. Cabled advice has been received by Mr and Airs D. Symo, of Elthani, from their son, Mr Ronald Syrae, who for some time past has been holding an important position on the British diplomatic staff in Belgrade, stating that ho js safe and well. The appointment of Air W. H. Hidse, of the Foilding Post Office, to tho position of accountant at the Chief Post Office, Invercargill, is anuouaiced. Air Hulse succeeds Air G. P. Aladden, wljo was recently promoted to the position of assistant accountant in Dunedin.
A former Aucklander, Alajor J. N. Abbott, who is serving with the Australian Imperial Forces overseas, was among those who received decorations for gallant and distinguished service in action during the successful operations in Cyrenaica.
Flying-officer A. Pi. W. Al'Donald, of Invercargill, who has been attached to the staff of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Station, Wigram, for the last nine mouths, has been appointed chief ground instructor.-at Whenuapai with acting rank of flight lieutenant.
