BUTTER PLENTIFUL
BUT TROOPS GETTING AUSTRALIAN MARGARINE PERTINENT QUESTION IN HOUSE [From Odr Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, March 27. “ A very pertinent and proper question,” commented the Prime Minister in the House, when Mr Dickie asked him if his attention had been drawn to the fact that our troops in Egypt were being supplied with Australian margarine, and whether he would inform the House if .sufficient New Zealand butter was not available fort-hat purpose. This question, said Air Eraser, had been engaging the attention of the Government. “ Apparently,” he continued, “ what happened in the last war is occurring in this war. There is no logical reason for it, and consequently the most urgent representations have been made and are, being made. Particularly at the present moment, when wo are stressing the heed to help Britain by transport wo should send supplies to-our troops in the Middle East as imichas possible, because that will be helping Britain. If we could supply thorn direct it would suit everybody. I thank.the member for raising this question, which must arouse uneasiness in many minds.”
