“ADORES HITLER"
MUSSOLINI'S REMARKABLE DAUGHTER Stories reaching us from neutral sources convey an unfamiliar picture of tho supposed masterful Duco being guided largely in his political decisions by his daughter Edda, Countess Ciano, states the Londoner’s Diary in the 1 Evening Standard.’ In Mussolini’s house she is credibly reputed as “ wearing tho trousers.” This small, dark-skinned woman is described as being burnt out by ambition —ambition for her father, her mediocre husband, and herself. She is said to have urged- Mussolini on to aggressive methods, by which she hoped for family aggrandisement. She has plotted against King Victor Emmanuel because it was her dream to become one day Empress of Italy. Edda lives in the castlo of the old Roman Emperor Tiberius, built on a rock, against which tho waves of tho sea beat ceaselessly. Those who know her have said that Edda has much in common with Hitler, whom she adores. She is vain, hysterical, always between tears and laughter. When she paid one of her rare visits to England some years ago, Edda was disappointed because London society did not take to her. In Berlin, Gocring and Goebbcls ordered the people to pay homage to her. She declared for Germany and against Britain. Gocring’s daughter was christened Edda to please Mussolini’s vain daughter.
