OFFICER GOT HIS MAH In London, Chief Constable John Honvell, who has retired from his post as head of the Criminal Investigation Department to join the Provost Marshal’s department of the 11.A.F., has brought many murderers to justice. A burglar had shot a man who had surprised him while robbing a flat. Inquiries revealed that a man had rung the bell of the neighbouring house, inquiring for a non-existent person, the usual dodge to find out if anyone was at home. The woman who answered _ the door remembered that the man said he had come from the Warwick Garage, Chief Constable Horwcll, student of psychology, wondered why that particular name "had sprung to the man’s lips. There was no garage of that name: when ho looked through the_ dossiers of known housebreakers ho found that one, Frederick Stewart, had previously lived iu Warwick street. He got ids man.
